Vermillion, Scarlet, Merlot

This is a collection of short stories and poetry exploring the theme of love, centering the perspectives of women. Love is multifaceted and this collection aims to honour the many different faces and expressions of love. Using my own personal experience and the experiences of other women in my life, this collection paints a complex, colourful and sometimes ugly picture of what it means to love and be loved as a woman in romantic, platonic and familial relationships. It will also reckon with the difficulties women face when trying to love themselves.

Vermillion, Scarlet, Merlot

unearths the pains and joys of a universal experience with an abstract lens, with the hope of reintroducing readers to familiar emotions in a light they may have not considered them in before but is ultimately relatable. This is carried out throughout the texts in various ways, for example, having a specific focus on the theme of nature and colour to give a tangible anchor to something that is otherwise an intimate internal process. Similarly, using superhuman elements to explore human emotion, giving a new form to an ultimately relatable emotion. This being a collection of stories means that each story, while linked through theme, is unique and allows for a vast concept to be explored in the depth I believe it deserves. This collection is still being added to and edited, however, you can browse the collection so far below.
